This should be one of the most anticipated match of Friday’s WC Qualifiers, Group leaders, France, take on 2nd position Sweden three points adrift.
The Swedes have well recovered from the retirement of Legendary striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Since that 1-0 loss to Belgium in the final group game of Euro’s they have won six, drawn one, and lost two of their nine matches. One of these defeats came away to France in these qualifiers.
This has put Sweden in a fantastic position to challenge for qualification. They are 2nd in their World Cup qualifying group,
France expectedly, hold the top spot in this group at the moment. After having suffered the heartbreak of an extra-time final defeat to Portugal in their home European Championships, they will feel confident of another opportunity heading towards the World Cup.
They have won six, drawn two, and lost just one of their nine games since last summers’ exploits, beating the likes of Italy and Holland in the process. So far Spain are the only team to beat them.
Away from home France have won three of their four matches. They have scored in eight of their last 11 away matches as well. The Swedish defence could be in for a tough time as they come face to face with Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappe, Olivier Giroud, and Dimitri Payet.
Sweden have scored in an impressive 13 of their last 14 home matches though, so I expect them to find a goal too.
